About Us
Dr. Stephen T. Basic III & Associates, Optometrists in Charlottesville, Virginia was established by Dr. Stephen T. Basic in 2012 in Charlottesville, although our doctors have been in practice for many years prior. Our staff optometrists, Stephen T. Basic, Curtis Bare, and Trudy Rohm, are supported by experienced staff.
The practice is dedicated to providing the highest quality primary vision care and contact lenses services for patients ages five and up in a compassionate, calm, inclusive, and friendly environment.

Meet Our Staff
Dr. Stephen T. Basic, III
Dr. Basic completed both his undergraduate and graduate work at The Ohio State University, obtaining his Doctorate of Optometry in 2002. During his training, Dr. Basic served on to two medical mission trips to Latin America. He completed externships at Hampton Roads Veterans’ Affairs Medical Center in Hampton, Virginia and Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. Dr. Basic moved to Charlottesville in 2002 to start his own practice. Dr. Basic lives in Charlottesville with his wife and son and enjoys travel, playing City league softball, is a passionate supporter of Buckeye football, and still is holding out hope for a winning season from the Cleveland Browns.
Dr. Trudy Rohm
Dr. Rohm did her undergraduate work at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and received her Doctorate of Optometry from the Indiana University School of Optometry in 1984. After working in a medical clinic in Wisconsin for two years, she relocated to Charlottesville and has been providing primary eye care to the community ever since. Dr. Rohm spends her free time gardening, reading, playing Canasta and Sheepshead with her card group buddies, and caring for an ungrateful cat.
Dr. Curtis V. Bare
Dr. Bare grew up in Burlington, North Carolina and completed his undergraduate work at Elon University. He received his Doctorate of Optometry from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee and then moved to Charlottesville where he started his practice originally on Main Street. Dr. Bare enjoys playing bridge and traveling.
Dr. Tiffany Kwon
Dr. Kwon grew up in Southern California and attended the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) for her undergraduate degree. She received her Doctorate of Optometry from the State University of New York (SUNY) college of Optometry in 2009 and practiced in NYC for several years before moving to Virginia in 2016. Dr. Kwon lives in Charlottesville with her husband and three children; in her free time she enjoys reading, cooking, and traveling.
Dr. Lauren Rivellino
Dr. Rivellino (formerly Parker) brings more than 15 years of optometric experience to our office. She has practiced in and around Central Virginia for 12 years and, prior to that, served as an optometrist with the United States Army in Kansas and Japan. She loves Charlottesville and spends her free time gardening and cooking with her two daughters. During your appointment, please feel free to share gardening tips and/or book recommendations.
