Meet Our Staff

Drs. Bare, Basic, & Rohm Optometrists was established by Dr. Stephen T. Basic in 2002 in Charlottesville, Virginia. Our staff optometrists Curtis Bare, Trudy Rohm, and Stephen Basic are supported by experienced technicians Amanda, Samantha, and Cathie.

The practice is dedicated to providing the highest quality primary vision care and contact lenses services for patients ages four and up in a warm, calm, and friendly environment.

Dr. Stephen Basic III
Dr, Stephen Basic, III, Optometrist Dr. Basic completed both his undergraduate and graduate work at The Ohio State University, obtaining his Doctorate of Optometry in 2002. He completed externships at Hampton Roads VA Medical Center in Hampton, VA and Children's Hospital in Columbus, OH. After graduation, Dr. Basic moved to Charlottesville to start his own practice. Dr. Basic lives in Charlottesville with his wife and two dogs and enjoys travel, playing City league softball, and watching Buckeye football.







Dr. Trudy Rohm
Dr, Trudy Rohm, Optometrist Dr. Rohm did her undergraduate work at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and received her Doctorate of Optometry from the Indiana University School of Optometry in 1984.

After working in a medical clinic in Wisconsin for two years, she relocated to Charlottesville, and has been providing primary eye care to the community ever since.

In addition to her interest in eye care services and health, Dr. Rohm is an avid gardener. She spends her free time in workout sessions at ACAC, playing Canasta and Sheepshead with her card group buddies and trying to entice her cats to pay attention to her.






Dr. Curtis Bare
Dr, Curtis Bare, Optometrist Dr. Bare grew up in Burlington, North Carolina and completed his undergraduate work at Elon University. He received his Doctorate of Optometry from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee and then moved to Charlottesville where he started his practice on Main Street.

Dr Bare enjoys playing bridge and traveling.
